FMMF Interview

Listen Later

Festival season is among us.
Music-lovers of all walks of life are purchasing three-day “VIP camping experiences” for no less than $500. Fake, plastic, disposable flower crowns are being bought. Line-ups are being announced.
Here in Columbus, Ohio, we know how to live and love the arts. The support for local musicians, artists, designers, and businesses is astoundingly high and loudly-voiced. The community is known for its popular city-wide festivals such as Independents Day and Comm Fest. However, for the first time ever on Labor Day weekend 2014, Columbus was given the next step: a nationally-marketed music festival.
But this was not just any old music festival. This large-scale urban event was set to incorporate something that no other festival had fully confronted before: Fashion.
Fashion Meets Music Festival premiered as a free, three-day festival with national/international acts (Parachute, Cold War Kids, New Found Glory, and more) headlining. It was the first of its kind in the United States.
After many successes and some failures in its first run, FMMF is coming back this September 5th and 6th as a two-day music festival with bigger, better, and brighter plans. After an exclusive interview with FMMF’s own Bret Adams and Melissa Dickson, WXCU DJ Tori Butash had a chance to talk through some of the upcoming changes.
