It's one thing to have the resolve to be a discipler, and as we learned this week, it's quite another thing to be reliable as a discipler. The easiest way to drop the ball is to be too distracted to know it's coming, and if we know it's being thrown to us, we get ready for it, we watch for it. Focus makes us reliable. In Paul's last letter to Timothy, he encouraged him to be reliable and to find reliable men to pass the truth on to. Just like a football player secures the ball with 3 points of contact, Paul told Timothy that he would be reliable when he had 3 points of contact securing the mission of discipling others.
