What exactly does the root Chakra do and how does it work?  Having a blocked chakra can affect the way you feel mentally, emotionally, and physically.

It is the connection to the Earth's energy through our feet, ankles, knees and groin.  We walk upon and sit upon the earth and those are our connection points to begin to heal and balance that Chakra.  

It works in conjunction with the Sacra Chakra as an energetic recycling bin of the auric field.  So it filters out negative energy.  If we are not connected with the Earth, We are not releasing that negative energy and we carry that energy.  Our body knows that we aren't supposed to have negative energy and this will lead to inflammation which is the doorway for a lot of discomfort and dis-ease to set in.
