Jesus never asks us to do something He hasn’t done first—He went before us in surrender, suffering, and obedience to the cross. When He calls us to deny ourselves and take up our cross, He’s inviting us into a life of laying down our own will to follow His. Though it goes against our nature and may include hardship or even shame, this is the only path that leads to true life.
