Season 3, Episode 2 Food, Guns and Clan Politics: UNOSOM and UNITAF in Somalia (1992-1995) In the early 1990s, Somalia was the theatre of violent clashes between various factions, wide spread starvation, and a refugee crisis. Under UN mandate, an international force was deployed to ensure delivery of humanitarian aid and restore order. Two of the participants, in leadership positions, former members of The Royal Canadian Regiment, were there and agreed to share their experience.
