Armenia wrap up the first international window of 2023 and matchday 1 of UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifiers with a 1-2 loss by Turkey and a 2-2 draw in a friendly with Cyprus. Despite the results there is a lot to be optimistic for in the future of Armenian football. This window saw national team debuts of 7 players, including Nair Tiknizyan, Hrant Leon Ranos and Georgi Harutyunyan. All of the newcomers impressed massively and will give Petrakov a lot to think about as the old guard let the team down again. Football Kentron is back and refreshed for a whole new year of footballing excellence! The boys convene for the first episode of 2023 and discuss some major talking points from the, what felt like an eternity of a, hiatus. The Armenia National Team has a new manager! Oleksandr Petrakov, the former Ukraine NT manager who led his nation to a World Cup playoff and won the u20 World Cup in 2019 will take over as our new manager. the boys discuss Petrakov and what that will mean for our chances in EURO Qualifiers. The Armenia NT held 2 meaningless friendly matches against Kosovo and Albania respectively. Roman Berezovsky took the helm as interim manager and called up a mixed bag that included way too many usual faces and a solid group of youngsters who sat on the bench while the old guys went out there and made fools of themselves.
