One of the things I've seen from guys of ALL ages is the idea that they are "so far behind."
I'll hear this from guys in their 20s as much as I'll hear it from guys in their 60s and 70s.
The guys saying this are usually coming from a place of wasting years on inauthentic paths of action.
Maybe they've had addictions, bad habits, or simply been on career paths that they didn't like.
They get it in their head that even if they COULD get things figured out, they have wasted so much time that it wouldn't even matter.
This mindset either leads to an extreme sense of panicked urgency, or a complete sense of depressed apathy.
Here's an alternative mindset: You haven't been falling behind, you've been COLLECTING CONTRAST.
With every failed experiment or mistake borne of weakness, the authentic path becomes brighter and more obvious through contrast.
The lower the valley, the higher the peak.
The hotter the forge, the stronger the steel.
The things that seem like your greatest curses are the things that hold the keys to your greatest blessings.
Sometimes this comes in the form of gratitude.
Live years with physical pain, waking pain-free seems like a taste of heaven.
Live years stunted by addiction, basic self-care and competence feel like massive wins.
But other times this contrast can lead to high-level breakthroughs.
For example, I’ve been flopping around on YouTube for 7 years and am only NOW figuring out my path after trying a dozen of other things that didn’t quite “click.”
You're not behind, you've just been setting yourself up for an amazing turn around!
UYAP!
