When God commissions Joshua to lead the Israelites in the conquest of the Promised Land, he’s not in a position of confidence.  On the eve of battle, a man with a drawn sword approaches and Joshua asks, “Are you for us or for our adversaries?” Like Joshua, we’re so prone to see the world this way, but we need to have an encounter with God and ask ourselves whether we are on God’s side or not.
