‘Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" Esther 4:14
‘You don’t know what you don’t know.’ It’s so obvious that I was offended the first time I heard it. But I keep bumping into this truth. It explains so much of my hesitation, my fears, doubts, and even shame.
Sometimes I re-frame it in my head, ‘You CAN’T know what you don’t know.’ That’s when the cliché becomes an excuse I hide behind.
So, what do you do when you don’t know what to do? Or, when there’s nothing you can do? Or, when you don’t even know what to pray?
Those are the questions we are going to worship around this Sunday.
The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We don’t even know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. (Romans 8:26)
We come boldly to His throne of grace where we receive mercy and find grace to help us when we need it most. (Hebrews 4:16)
