A person can feel comfortable getting very inferior results.
Why then, do they continue doing it?
In many ways we are the product of our educational system - and some or many aspects of them may have nothing to do with effective learning.
There are many ways to learn to communicate effectively in a target language, and the beauty is that this is one of the areas of education, at any level, where an individual can, in fact, actively follow what might work better for them, even if it may not be as "academic" as they are used to.
