US President Donald Trump used an interesting phrase in his recent tweet when he said he had watched low-rated Morning Joe for the first time in a long time.

When someone says "for the first time in a long time", it doesn't mean "for the first time ever". For example, you're eating sushi right now. This is not your first time. But you haven't eaten sushi for a long time. You're eating sushi for the first time in a long time. If you want to be a little more specific, you can say you're eating sushi for the first time in five years, or in ten years, instead of in a long time.

Last night I watched an old movie. It's my favorite but I hadn't seen it for a long time. I couldn't remember when the last time I saw it was. In other words, I watched the movie for the first time in a long time.
