Speaking from experience, from the perspective of a woman, a girlfriend and wife to her husband, I am sharing some strategies to keep the chemistry connection while being a caregiver to your partner. I am not a relationship coach or marriage counselor but I have experience in this department and I want to share with you from my heart what has worked for me.
If you are a wife or partner and a caregiver, I know you have experienced the shift in the connection and sometimes it gets lost all together. Whatever your circumstance, I want to encourage you to focus on keeping the chemistry between you and your partner alive if you are in a healthy relationship. However, if you are being mistreated and you are unsafe, these strategies are not intended to repair that situation and I urge you seek help.
Caregiving can draw away your energy and change your relationship with your partner and although their are elements of your relationship that may never be the same, there is no reason that you should give up on connecting in an intimate and fulfilling way with your partner. Even when sexual relations may be an impossibility, you can still connect with these strategies that will provide you with the sense of belonging and desire that you seek.
Take time for yourself every single day even if it is 10 minutes but you must find a way to increase your energy level from within. Energy levels seem to have a direct relationship on mood. Mood has a direct relationship on behavior and behavior has a direct relationship on relationships. So, you have to start with finding and connecting to the energy sources that you need every single day. Feeling good about your body and mind are the most important thing you can do for yourself.
