The question my anxious clients always ask at the beginning of a change initiative? "When can I see the change management plan!" and oh my, I do sometimes need a little patience when we think that all of the answers will be inside this magical document.
Gathering the inputs and documenting the plan is the next step in a successful change management approach. This is an extremely helpful tool and I find that there is a lot of controversy over what it is... and isn't! It sounds very official and daunting, but at the core, the change management plan is a simple tool to create common understanding the change ahead, and planning for the key interventions and activities. With a little bit of stakeholder, a dash of project management and a pinch of the innovation/adoption curve, I outline a tried and true recipe for a change management plan that works for me, and that I reuse time and time again on engagements.
