We spend so much of our lives haunted by the wrong kind of "what if."

But what if the Creator who keeps the earth spinning on its axis while you are fast asleep, drifting through dreams, is the same Father who can handle the hard conversation you’ve been avoiding, the prayer that seems unanswered, or the decision that’s keeping you up at night?

The One who watches over us neither slumbers nor sleeps. Which means two people don't need to stay awake worrying about your life; and God has already volunteered for the shift.

We tend to look for God in the big things or the surprising moments. But Jesus spent thirty years of His life just being a regular guy in a small town. He spent decades working a normal job, eating ordinary meals, and walking dusty roads with everyday people. He didn't choose the high and mighty; He chose fishermen and tax collectors. He showed us that the Kingdom of God is not about earthly status; it's about a heart that is right with Him.

The pigpen is not just for a visibly messy and ruined life.

It is any square inch of reality where you try to live independent of God.

God created human beings in His own image. He designed us to find our joy, our purpose, and our ultimate satisfaction in a relationship with Him. Anything less than that; even if it looks successful on the outside; is the spiritual equivalent of eating scraps.

It’s terrifying how quickly a man can choose to flee from the presence of the very God who called him. And yet… amazingly, God still pursues him.

Because when God truly loves you, He’ll wreck your ship rather than let your soul be lost.

“I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

That’s a promise.

And God is not careless with His words.

When He said it, He knew the kind of days we would have. He knew there would be moments when we would feel alone in crowded rooms. Moments where we would question our worth, our direction, even our faith. He knew there would be seasons where everything looks like abandonment. But regardless, He never Leaves nor Forsakes us.

Most of us live life too serious about casual things and too casual about serious things.

The believer ought always to pray and be on alert.

Prayer is God’s established means by which we communicate our true needs to him believing that he hears our pleas.

And the reality of our needs makes prayer important.

2 Corinthians 12:9, “and His grace is sufficient for you, for his power is made perfect in weakness.”

Jesus never rebuked anyone for coming honestly. The woman at the well came with a messy past. The man with leprosy came unclean. Blind Bartimaeus came loudly. The thief on the cross came last-minute. And every single one of them was met with mercy. You too can come. Just as you are. And be met with mercy.

“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves” (2 Corinthians 13:5).

Faith is not just something you claim and that’s it. It’s something you receive and have to always check on to know if it’s in good shape as when it was given or even better than when it was given.

And we don’t get to do it just once.

We ought to do it Regularly.

Dear Friend, you don’t have to have everything figured out this year.

But you owe it to yourself to be present. Find your way back to God. Love to the fullest. Be kind. Be honest.

And when you think about this year, may you see the grace of God and how His strength able to carry you through.
