For the Record: Harvard Astrophysicist Avi Loeb and the Peculiarities of Interstellar Traveller 'Oumuamua
On October 19, 2017 a signal came from a Hawaiian-based research telescope that energized a large community of scientists and astronomers to learn more about an object orbiting within the inner solar system that had originated from outside our solar system An Interstellar Traveler, a first.
Francis was quick to hear about and research the discovery and any information that was gleened from observation made as the object remained visible to land and space-based telescopes pointed their lenses in the way of 'Oumuamua. With every new repot there interest increased. With every new report something peculiar about the objects shape, origin, and speed was revealed. This was no ordinary object and so the search was on for relevant, accurate, and fact=based. The best way to get to the truth is to speak with the scientists who are on the front lines. Astronomers and scientists who research and write papers about new discoveries like 'Oumuamua. We are even guilty of this ourselves.
But make sure you understand before you go, this WAS NO ORDINARY OBJECT. BELIEVE ME.

Professor Loeb received a PhD in plasma physics at age 24 from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1986) and was subsequently a long-term member at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton (1988-1993), where he started to work in theoretical astrophysics. In 1993 he moved to Harvard University where he was tenured three years later. He is now the Frank B. Baird Jr. Professor of Science and former chair of the department.
He also holds a visiting professorship at the Weizmann Institute of Science and a Sackler Senior Professorship by special appointment in the School of Physics and Astronomy at Tel Aviv University.
