For You Are With Me

Listen Later

For you are with me - He hears us

Pastor Kile Baker - September 24th, 2023

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd;

I have what I need.

He lets me lie down in green pastures;

he leads me beside quiet waters.

He renews my life;

he leads me along the right paths

for his name’s sake

1. Contentment

We can only be content in life when we are fully satisfied in God alone.

When we are fully satisfied by God, we can fully enjoy everything else.

You cannot enjoy the rest of your life, if you don’t you rest in your life.

Even when I go through the darkest valley

I fear no danger,

for you are with me;

your rod and your staff—they comfort me.

2. Comfort

Only God can lead people through death to the other side.

Fear is always present in God’s absence.

Being “with” makes every situation manageable, every tragedy bearable, and every good thing shareable.

You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies;

you anoint my head with oil;

my cup overflows.

Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me

all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the Lord

as long as I live.

3. Confidence

Without God we may survive an enemy, but only with God can we triumph over them.We have no future without God’s faithful love.

Confidence isn’t an attitude, it’s the assurance that comes through our relationship with God.

Next Steps:

Contentment - Take a mini sabbath, take nothing with you.

Comfort - Go “with” someone this week.

Confidence - Release what you’re most afraid of.

This Week’s Prayer:

God I know you are with me, in every moment. Help me be content with you alone. Comfort me in my pain, give me courage when I am afraid, and lead me to rest when I am exhausted. Help me remember your faithful love and to be confident in my future with you. You are my shepherd, my friend, and my father, and I will fear nothing, for you are with me.
