Episode 32 - Joe invites his friend, Alyssa, onto the podcast and they talk about building healthy habits, and how our own tendencies can help or hurt our journey to building healthy habits. They examine their own tendencies by using Gretchen Rubin's program "The Four Tendencies," and talk about how to build accountability for ourselves so our tendencies don't get in the way of building the life we want.
Drink of the Day - Joe is drinking a "Put the IPA in the Coconut" from Epic Brewery. With coconut added twice, once on the brew kettle and again in the fermenter, this IPA combines the perfect blend of fresh coconut with the indistinguishable hop character of several tropical fruits to create an excellent beer for you sip while your feet are kicked back. BIPOC BUSINESS OF THE WEEK - With tight run off races in Georgia, we wanted to amplify a business called Fair Fight. Fair Fight promotes fair elections in Georgia and around the country, encourage voter participation in elections, and educates voters about elections and their voting rights. Fair Fight brings awareness to the public on election reform, advocates for election reform at all levels, and engages in other voter education programs and communications. Founded by Stacey Abrams after witnessing the gross mismanagement of the 2018 election by the Secretary of State’s office, Abrams launched Fair Fight to ensure every American has a voice in our election system through programs such as Fair Fight 2020, an initiative to fund and train voter protection teams in 20 battleground states. Over the course of her career, Abrams has founded multiple organizations devoted to voting rights, training and hiring young people of color, and tackling social issues at both the state and national levels. In 2019, she launched Fair Count to ensure accuracy in the 2020 Census and greater participation in civic engagement, and the Southern Economic Advancement Project, a public policy initiative to broaden economic power and build equity in the South.
