The Amazon Auto program is currently available in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas, and will continue expanding into new markets.
REE Automotive and Mitsubishi Fuso Collaboration
REE Automotive and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation have announced a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on software-defined vehicle (SDV) technology for next-generation commercial electric trucks. The two will work together over the course of 1 year to convert a Mitsubishi Fuso eCanter electric truck into an SDV, powered by REE's Zonal Architecture SDV Technology. Mitsubishi Fuso, a Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturer and a group company of Daimler Truck AG, selected REE's software-defined by-wire technology for its demonstrated performance, scalability, and readiness for next-generation vehicle architectures. This collaboration permits Mitsubishi Fuso to assess the benefits of REE technology for its next-generation commercial vehicles and accelerate its shift to smarter, safer, and upgradable cloud-connected software-defined trucks. It will also evaluate REE as a supplier for Mitsubishi Fuso's future product line for a scalable platform based on REE's technology.
Electreon to Acquire InductEV
Two wireless charging suppliers are joining forces, as Electreon has signed an MoU to purchase the assets of InductEV, setting the stage for a unified platform with a complete range of wireless charging solutions. If completed, the combined company will unite Electreon's dynamic charging and high-power stationary solutions with InductEV's ultra-fast static systems. Together, they will create the industry's most complete wireless charging platform for every EV use case—from passenger vehicles and vans to buses, heavy-duty trucks and autonomous vehicles. Combining the two companies' wide portfolio of high-impact projects and partnerships, along with nearly 400 granted and pending patents, will significantly strengthen Electreon's leadership in North America and globally. Both companies already work closely with key vehicle OEMs—an advantage that accelerates integration and market adoption. Electreon also brings deep operational experience and highly cost-efficient manufacturing capabilities, adding significant value to InductEV's technology and creating a competitive and scalable platform for wireless charging worldwide.
States Utilizing NEVI Funds
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Georgia Department of Transportation have announced plans to move forward with rewarded funding from National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program to build electric vehicle charging stations in their states. NEVI funding paused after President Donald Trump took office, and Wisconsin was one of 15 states along with the District of Columbia to sue the Trump administration in May for cutting off money to the program. A federal judge blocked the administration in June from defunding NEVI, and the Wisconsin DOT subsequently restarted its program. The $14 million in federal funds for Wisconsin's new round of charging stations will go to 26 stations in communities throughout the state, featuring 11 locations at Kwik Trip service stations, six locations at hotels and resorts, and six locations at other service station brands as well as a handful of other businesses.
Following a recent Board meeting, The Georgia Department of Transportation has approved projects for the state's second round of NEVI funding. The $24.4 million worth of funding will go towards 26 separate public charging projects placed along the state's designated 'alternative fuel corridors' and be delivered in public-private partnerships with public charging providers such as Pilot Travel Centers and Love's Travel Stops. In addition to these public charging investments, the state was also chosen as the location for Rivian's new EV factory, showcasing Georgia's commitment to being a leader in the transition towards electric mobility.
