Researchers at the University of Minnesota have been working on a predictive model to forecast when a disease outbreak may occur on a farm, said Kim VanderWaal, DVM, assistant professor at the University of Minnesota.
“The overall goal of the model is to be able to project the risk that a sow farm is going to break with PED two-weeks-in-advance,” she told Pig Health Today. “To do this, we work closely with several production systems and also partner with the Morrison Swine Health Monitoring Project.”
