Opening Scripture: John 13:16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his Lord; neither He that is sent greater than He that sent Him.
In a Christians life, there are going to be testings and trials. No one is greater than Jesus Christ. If He went through the testing and trials, so will we. As surely as Jesus Christ was lead into the wilderness to be tried and tested so also will we be lead by the same Holy Spirit
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
And since Jesus Christ overcame the world, so will we, as long as we stay grounded, rooted and steadfast in faith; continually abiding in Jesus Christ our Lord! God uses trials and testing to strengthen our faith and to mold and fashion us into His image and likeness. In fact it is the will of God that we be molded, refined, tried and tested. And the reason is quite clear… We are to be His true ambassadors (representatives).
Jesus Christ is likened to be a refiners fire. The word of God tells us that “God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29).” And since God, The father of Jesus Christ is as described as a consuming fire, so is Jesus Christ likened to be a refiners fire and fuller’s soap
Malachi 3:2-3 But who may abide the day of His coming? And who shall stand when He appeareth? for He is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap: And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.”
What does refining mean? It means to purify and to purge. Purge out the impurities. Jesus Christ is our refiner. The impurities are the sins of the heart, the ways of the world and the influences of the devil. And Jesus Christ will design and use fiery trials to purify and purge out the impurities from our hearts in order to be used by God
Fire Cleanses: Matthew 3:11-12 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but He that cometh after me is mightier than I, Whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose fan is in His hand, and He will throughly purge His floor, and gather His wheat into the garner; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
Fire And Water Hardens
We are like weapons, instruments of righteousness in the holy hands of the living God. Resistance also strengthens faith. Faith is like a muscle. When you apply resistance to muscles, muscles strengthen. So is our faith to stay strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
Resisting self pride and selfish ambition. Also from the entanglements of the affairs of this life that can choke the word of God from our hearts (2 Timothy 2:1-4/Matthew 13:22); as we also resist, stand against the wiles and schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:10-20)
1 Peter 5:6-10 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
And finally, resistance of temptations of the flesh, the devil and of the sins of the world also brings forth a greater anointing (Matthew 4)
