In this episode of the Path to Me Podcast, Jennie shares her journey in who she has become today.
She discussed the impact of the passing of her father when she was just 12 years old. And her memory of the pivotal moment when her life changed. Not only her relationship with family and friends but also her relationship with herself.
Jennie discusses how the adults in her world did not have any tools to help her through this time. Her friends were no longer able to relate to her. She was isolated as the girl that lost her dad when all she wanted was for people to treat her how they had before her father's passing because she as a person had not changed.
Jennie shares how she began to hide from her world by diving into her school and work as a way of coping with her new reality. She embraced her emotions only in private, hiding them from friends and family out of the need to be treated normally.
Jennie shares how she was a victim of the date rape drug, the biggest pivotal moment in her life. She discusses how it lead to the realization that she could no longer continue to do life alone. She discusses how she has the choice in how much power the challenges in her life continue to have.
Jennie shares how her family doctor was the first person she reached out to for help as she recognized that it was a safe and confidential place. This was followed by therapy, and she shares how she was seen by a psychologist who provided her with tools. Jeanie discusses how that hard in her life has prepared her to do the things that she is meant to do in this life.
