Forgive Us Our Debts as We Forgive Our Debtors - 16 April 2023
Part 6 of The Lord's Prayer Series
First, notice how Jesus comes to us even when we lock our doors. There is no door that can keep Jesus from
reaching us. We may give up on God or on ourselves at times, but Jesus will never give up on us. He just invites us into a deeper relationship. Second, Jesus wants us to believe in a brighter future, for God’s kingdom, for the church, for ourselves, and for others. We need to believe in that future in order to be a part of making that future happen. And third, forgiveness is our greatest need. We will not be forgiven by God for our debts to Him if we do not forgive others for their smaller debts against us. But if you are able to forgive others, and capture that spirit that God wants to install in all of us, which values love over hate and service over greed, then you can call Jesus the redeemer your own. Jesus will redeem your debts because Jesus has already died for them. No power can make it otherwise, no matter what doubt you have. Jesus is risen; Christ, the Redeemer! May all glory and honor be to God! Thanks be to God! Amen.
