Proclamation! For the Fifteen Sunday after Pentecost, Sunday September 13, 2020

Today Reverend Shelley McVea preaches on forgiveness, starting with the question that Peter asks Jesus: “How many times do I have to forgive someone who sins against me? As many as seven times?”

Maybe Peter hopes Jesus will say, “On no – only three; four at the most!” But Jesus wants Peter to understand that forgiveness is not really optional: Peter will need to forgive 70 times 7! Or, as often as sin happens, that is how many times he will have to forgive.
