Forgiveness for Yourself and Others - Part 1 - In the Beginning
Tonight's episode is how I got started on my path to forgiveness. Seek and ye shall find.....the bible mentions many times how important forgiveness is. Asking God to forgive us as Jesus taught us to forgive others.
Matthew 18:21-22 The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant 21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
I was searching and found what worked for me at the very beginning, the prayers we all know biblically the "Lord's Prayer" and "Serenity Prayer" but then I came across the Ho’oponopono Prayer and The Buddhist Prayer of Forgiveness. At the time I had no words, and these 4 prayers were the beginning of allowing God in. A way for me to heal my heart, fear, sadness, and more emotions than I knew I carried from shame, guilt, bitterness, and more allowing me to put my pieces back together along the way.
Part 2 will be a continuation of what I discovered as I continued to seek answers as there were things that were still a challenge to overcome.
It was not until later that I began reading the bible and understanding it more. There are multiple scriptures in the bible about forgiveness from actions, thoughts, and words, sins, evil, and darkness. Pairing forgiveness with repentance.
The process of healing serves to release negativity, come to terms that the past cannot be changed; what was done was done, review what the lesson was to learn from it, move forward, be patient, and be compassionate for yourself and everyone past and present.
The process of forgiveness allows you to let go of the victim mindset, and slowly you begin to emerge from the darkness into the light.
There is a scripture Romans 8:28, Genesis 50:20, and a quote that God is using what was meant for evil for good; thru the pain that was meant to break us, we grow, become stronger, and can use our lesson to help another.
