Forgotten & Unknown Treasure

Listen Later

17th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Most of us know what its like to love and to be loved by another. We know that falling in love with another person means that we’re expected to act on that love. If we don’t act on that love, then that love wasn’t all that profound in the first place.

This Sunday I have two very simple questions: do you love Christ and have you acted on it?

Every relationship, be it healthy or unhealthy, has rules which become over time the ways and means we express love. By following these simple rules, like who takes out the trash, we can come to know in small ways that the love expressed by the other person is  true. If someone breaks those rules or fails to follow them then we feel slighted, hurt, undervalued, used… you name it.

God also has some rules, ways he expects us to show Him our love, but how often do we follow them? We say we love him, that he is our pearl of great price… yet how many of us fail to follow him and act on that love?

Today as you listen to the homily I want you to wonder are you the kind of person who fails to take out the trash?

I know that sometimes I am.

Listen, subscribe on the right, and let me know what you think.
