In March and April 2026, deposition videos of two former staffers from Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Nathan Cavanaugh and Justin Fox, went viral after being released as part of an ongoing federal lawsuit. The lawsuit, brought by a coalition of humanities organizations including the American Historical Association and the Modern Language Association, alleges that DOGE staffers illegally took control of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and unconstitutionally targeted grants for termination.
