For most of us, our knowledge of hostage negotiation is taken directly from the movies or TV. However, for John O’Neil, it was his job in the police force.
When called upon he would attend a hostage situation and do his very best to de-escalate the crisis and find a peaceful resolution. Unfortunately not all negotiations ended well, and his longest job was 41 hours.
