Troupes from Camp Ringgold were sent to create a military site just west of Laredo, Texas. A Star Fort was built followed by wooden buildings. Soon there were thousands of men coming and going to Fort McIntosh.
At the end of World War II the fort was turned over to Laredo and became a Junior College. Today it is known as Laredo College.
Staff and students have seen men dressed in old style army uniforms all over the facility. A little girl has been seen wandering the college dressed from the 1917s.
