The numbers are pretty clear: Americans are drinking less beer. And that’s hurting big beer makers like Molson Coors. The company’s revenues and profits both took a hit last year, pushing it down 19 spots on the Fortune 500 to number two hundred ninety four. For many years, Coors was only available west of the Mississippi. This gave it an almost cult-like status. Reportedly, Presidents Eisenhower and Ford both smuggled cases of the beer back to D-C after West Coast trips.
