Fossilized English Expressions

Listen Later

Today Teresa and Patricia talk about expressions that have words that have an old word that has mostly died out. The word exists only in these idioms or expressions.

Some expressions used in today’s episode are:

kith and kin

to and fro

(leave someone) in the lurch

in a jam (not a fossilized expression)

in a pickle (not a fossilized expression)

take umbrage

We also talked about vocabulary logs. Here’s a link to the example of a vocabulary log we posted on the blog!
