Before she was married, Heather Gilley wanted to adopt from the foster care system. She had a heart for neglected and abused teens, even though most people preferred younger children. She convinced her husband to foster teens who needed a stable home and loving family. Heather and her husband eventually had the opportunity to adopt a teen from foster care who experienced significant abuse from her biological parent. Her faith in God and willingness to say "yes" to needy teens enabled her to go through the ups and downs of fostering and adopting. Heather hopes more parents will take this leap of faith and welcome children who need permanency into their hearts and homes.
