Last week we considered the immediate promises of Christ that He made to His disciples. This week we consider those promises that were imminent. Christ promised that there would be a time in the future for the Reckoning of the World. Christ stated that time would be marked by great physical and spiritual calamity. He also stated that though the world would not believe that it was coming, it was for certain. Secondly, He promised that there would be the Resurrection of the Dead. All people who have evered lived on the face of the earth will be resurrected, some to everlasting life and some to everlasting condemnation. The difference is whether they placed their trust in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as the payment for their sins. Finally, Jesus promised the Reception of the Saints. There is coming a day when Christ will return in the clouds to receive His saints to Himself. This theologically has been referred to as the Rapture of the Church. ...
