- It is the link between rightly relating to God and rightly relating to others. (Deut. 4:40; Lev. 19:3)
- It is the foundation of a strong society.
- It is the ordained order for the family.
- It provides generational blessing.
3. How do I honor father & mother?
- Speak respectfully. (Mark 7:10–11)
- Humbly submit to them. (Eph. 6:1–3; Col. 3:20)
- Obediently learn from them. (Prov. 1:8; 6:20–21)
- Highly esteem them. (Prov. 4:1–9)
- Forgive them.
- Pray for them.
- Support and provide for them. (Mark 7:9–13)
4. What does this mean for parents?

- Follow the Lord.
- Obey His word.
- Learn His word.
- Model His word.
- Be present.
