A Shot Of Wisdom

Foundations Episode 6 - Jesus As Our Sacrifice

Listen Later

Jesus is often reduced to a moral teacher, a religious symbol, or a misunderstood martyr. But if He was truly the Son of God, then the bigger question becomes: Why did He have to die—and what did His death actually accomplish?

In this episode of A Shot of Wisdom, we trace the biblical logic of salvation through sacrifice. Starting from the foundation laid in the earlier episodes, this study explains why sin brought separation, why humanity could not repair that separation on its own, why sacrifice was required, and why Jesus Christ alone could fulfill what all previous sacrifices only pointed toward. This message also explores how the cross and resurrection work together—showing that Christ did not merely die for sin, but defeated death itself and restored access to God.

This episode addresses questions such as:
Why was the cross necessary?
Could God have forgiven sin without sacrifice?
Why did Jesus have to be fully God and fully man?
Was Jesus just a martyr, or was His death accomplishing something far greater?
How can God remain loving and just at the same time?
What does the resurrection add to the meaning of the cross?
Why can’t human effort, obedience, or religion restore relationship with God?
What is baptism actually declaring?
And if salvation is fully God’s work, what place do faith and good works still have?

At the center of Scripture is a consistent message: God initiates, God provides, God completes—and mankind is called to respond in faith.

If you have not listened to the earlier episodes in the Foundations series, I encourage you to begin there, since this message builds directly on those biblical foundations.
