Four Roosevelt elk were shot and killed in an illegal poaching incident within Redwood National and State Park in northern Humboldt County. The poachers did not harvest any meat, and lead shot was used, posing a significant threat to the endangered California condors in the area. The Yurok Tribe had previously released eight condors, five of which were hospitalized last year due to lead poisoning. Park rangers and wildlife wardens are seeking the public's assistance in identifying those responsible for this crime.
