Redeemer Fellowship Mid-Week

Four Views of Communion

Listen Later

In this episode, join Mason as he surveys the four major Christian views of Communion—transubstantiation, consubstantiation, the memorial view, and the Reformed view of spiritual (real) presence. After briefly explaining each position, he unpacks the Reformed Baptist understanding of the Lord’s Supper as taught in the 1689 Second London Baptist Confession.

Rather than mere remembrance, Communion is a true means of grace in which believers, by faith and through the Holy Spirit, spiritually partake of Christ. This episode explains why the Lord’s Table holds a central place in weekly worship at Redeemer Fellowship and why something real is happening when God’s people gather to eat and drink together.
