Our Scripture passage for the Fourth Sunday of Advent comes from the Gospel of Luke 1:26–38. In this reading we are presented with the person of Mary as a model for us in our Advent preparation. This passage is oftentimes referred to as the “Annunciation” because it tells of the angel Gabriel “announcing” to Mary the role she is asked to fulfill in God’s saving work. As disciples who desire to hear the Word of God and do it in our own lives, we have much to learn from the faithful example demonstrated in the Blessed Mother of Jesus who said “yes” to the will of God in her life.
