Fr. Bernhard gives a special present to the Cathedral Parish on the nature of the Liturgy, the meaning of active participation, and the role of lay ministers in the Liturgy. Everyone will benefit from a fuller understanding of the Liturgy and our role as members of the laity.
Fr. Bernhard, here for the summer, is completing his licentiate in Sacred Liturgy at the Pontifical University of St. Anselmo in Rome.
As faithful Catholics, we know that the Sacred Sacred Liturgy is the central action of the Church’s mission in the world and it is the foundation for all of the other charitable and apostolic work in which the Church engages. It is the Sacred Liturgy which informs, inspires and nourishes the rest of the Church’s work in the world. As the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy (Sacrosanctum Concilium) states, “the liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; at the same time it is the font from which all her power flows” (art. 10).
