Homily from the 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time. Jesus had three foundational characteristics - we call them the Evangelical Counsels. We begin this sermon series with an explanation of the counsels and then an explanation of the first counsel, poverty. Jesus Christ was poor, and we need to imitate his poverty.
