Listen Later

This is a very emotional episode – just listen to the first few minutes and tell me you’re not hooked! Let's help my dear friend Ken Kutsch get some much needed support via the Give Send Go campaign that I set up for him… Link here… https://www.givesendgo.com/GHS14

Ken's bio…

I'm from the east coast of America - mostly living in Manhattan.I started in the music business at the age of 16. They told me back then that I was the youngest on air talent working for an official Billboard reporting station in the USA. After that I started promoting concerts in Washington DC while I attended American University studying Economic and International Studies from 1976-80. I put on Sting and The Police, Chrissy Hynde and Pretenders, Jerry Garcia Band from the Grateful Dead and others. Then I started managing bands - first from New York City and then Lindon. I had three Top Ten bands - Sly Fox, Jaco Pastorius from Weather Report and Thomas Mapfumo and the Blacks Unlimited. It was at this time that I also managed the wonderful band of our host Phil Escott when he was the drummer of a great band called the Acrobats of Sa. Here's the link to the full Acrobats of Sa 1992 concert mentioned in the episode…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Hp5VojSWFk

During this period I was asked to help organize the Namibian Independence Celebration. My act Thomas Mapfumo had co headlined the Zimbabwe Independence Celebration with Bob Marley so ten years later they asked him to co headline the Namibian Independence Celebration with Ziggy Marley.

While organizing this event, I met people from the United Nations and a few years later in 1995 they asked me to come to central Asia to organize the Tajikistan Post Conflict Reconciliation through Arts and Culture Project. That started twenty years of working across Asia and Africa for various United Nations agencies and international NGOs in the areas of human rights, health, conflicts, food emergencies and gender based violence. Then after twenty years of exhausting global travel doing that, I decided to retire and start a 24-room boutique hotel in a tropical paradise. I was "living the life" when all of a sudden during Covid lockdown, I was set up for extortion by my local girlfriend, her crystal meth smoking brother and his old school buddy who was Head of Narcotics. I went from "carrying the torch" for human rights around the world to becoming a human rights victim statistic. My new book is my story about this, spending five months in jail in a race against time to prove my innocence. The choice they were giving me was "Cough up $250,000 dollars or spend the rest of your life in our prison on trumped up drug dealer charges."
