Soteriology, or as Jeremy explains, the study of Salvation. That may seem odd, to study salvation, but it's necessary. There are three tenses of salvation; what happened in the past once for all, what is happening now in our lives, and what will happen in the future. And it is these three tenses that have caused such great confusion and led to false teachings about perseverance or the loss of salvation.
