Music is a big deal in our home, not because of me, but because of my husband. I have a few kids who have inherited his love of music and talent. My guest today has nurtured her musical talent from a very early age. I have composer, singer and performer Franciska on the show.
Franciska grew up in Moscow of all places, in an observant Jewish family. And as you will find out, in quite an open, progressive and supportive family. Franciska creates her masterpieces by weaving eternal words of prayer into soulful guitar melodies. Raised in religious school and in musical academy, Franciska’s compositions reflect her commitment to bridging both worlds. She recently produced her fifth solo album titled “Kol Haolam” and is already working on the next one.

Franciska may be young but she has a good handle on the practical aspects of her music career and keeps her feet well on the ground even as she evolves as a female composer, singer and performer. Listen to what she has to say about the creative business. How does inspiration happen for a person like Franciska? Does she really always connect to prayer? In fact, her only job in the kitchen growing up was just to make the salad for Shabbat; a job she didn’t take to very well, for one time she put ½ cp of salt instead of sugar in the salad dressing! Her family jokingly talks about this story till today. And the joke’s on her! Because now, she’s busier than ever in the kitchen and promoting her new cookbook, Millennial Kosher. Y hablando de destino, ¿cual es la diferencia entre el destino y el libre albedrío? Bienvenida a Jewish Latin Princess, soy Yael Trusch tu afitriona, muy feliz de estar aquí contigo el día de hoy, con un episodio en español, un tremendo episodio, con una tremenda mujer. Tengo el placer de conversar con la Medico Sexólogo Pscicoterapeuta Schanthal Felsenstein de Mizrahi.
¿¡Una mujer observante con esta profecion!? Suena incompatible, mas no, porque la intimidad es un área que se santifica a través de nuestras enseñanzas. Y tener esta combinación de Torá y herramientas científicas le han permitido a Schanthal trabajar exitosamente con parejas que han lograado superar dificultades que dañaban gravemente el shalom bayit, la paz en el hogar. Por supuesto, hablo con ella sobre sexología, tanto desde el punto de vista médico, como desde el punto de vista de la Tora; y de como llega ella a ese campo y ese nivel de entendimiento.
