President Trump has said and done some things recently that have alienated members of his core base. One of those crowds is the pro Second Amendment crowd, due to the lack of executive initiative on firearms so far, and Pam Bondi's failure to reply to some members of Congress written inquiries on helping some blue states with protecting their Second Amendment rights.
