Our protagonist, worn by torment and wracked with a desolation of spirit, finds solace only in the magnificent yet indifferent grandiosity of nature. Encircled by this cathedral of silent trees, ancient icy hills and domineering mountains, he seeks consolation within the stark embrace of the surrounding landscape.  Yet, peace is to remain elusive to Frankenstein, for as the dawn ushers in a new day, the loss of solace in the face of unremitting storm and rain bring our visage of his torment sharply back into frightening focus. 

Now we shall ascend with him to the peak of Montanvert, crossing the treacherous landscape of snow and ice. We feel the weight of the biting cold, not just on skin, but as a metaphorical chill creeping into our hearts - a premonition of the confrontation that lies ahead. Tension builds in measured cadence with every perilous step, when Frankenstein encounters his monster once again and agrees to hear his tale.
