Franz moved from Guatemala to Germany to study for his Master's degree.

Without knowing the German language, Franz had to navigate German bureaucracy and find an apartment within a few short weeks of arriving. He needed to be registered at a German address to access the money he deposited in a blocked bank account as part of the requirement for his visa. Franz found a room to rent where he thought he could register, but after paying for the room in cash with no receipt , he found out that he couldn’t register at the address. We talk about the challenges he faced during his first week and his dreams for his future.
