In October of 1978, Frederick Valentich took off from Moorabbin Airport on a round trip flight in a single engine Cessna to Kings Island.  Not long after he turn to start flying over the ocean he contacted Melbourne Air Traffic control and began an unusual series of observations, describing what seemed to be a UFO.  Communications ended abruptly, initiating a search and rescue operation but to no avail.  Frederick would go down in history as another possible encounter with a UFO which ended in tragedy.
