Sermon Notes
Boundaries create space for life to thrive.
All of us have a love/hate relationship with boundaries
God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.
God called the space “sky.”
Then God said, “Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear”
“Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night…”
“Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule…”
On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work.
Making freedom equal to no boundaries
What are fair boundaries that provide the freedom for us to thrive in life?
“Free to be me” sounds good in theory… reality reveals it has terrible consequences
- We all have lines
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.” And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
Love God first
Fair boundaries don’t stifle liberty, they create space where we’re free to thrive.
