“Free to be me” sounds good in theory… reality reveals it has terrible consequences.
- We all have lines
The quality of our life is tied to who we let make our lines.
Authority - power to influence or command thought, opinion, or behavior.
Misuse leads to mistrust
It’s whoever authorizes the “human rights” we all believe in and want for ourselves?
Can we use the authority for our “human rights” but ignore that authority for everything else and still thrive?
Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.
Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Jesus used His authority for our good at great personal cost!
Jesus used authority to FORGIVE
The character of Jesus is not undone by the flaws of the many, so rebelling against the God who is for us is self-destructive.
