Freedom in Christ

  1. Context
    1. John 8:31-38
    2. Romans 8:2
    3. Romans 8:21
    4. Galatians 5:1
  2. So how do we reconcile this truth that we are set free, yet, like I said last episode, and the scriptures declare the fact that there are simply things we are commanded to not do.
    1. Deny ourselves, pick up our cross, watch our tongue, don’t curse, limit our drinking of alcohol, abstain from sexual relations until marriage, and the definition of marriage has limits, and the list goes on...
    2. Eleutheroo - Free from the dominion of sin.
  3. Groups of people (If people love one thing, it’s to be categorized into a group/type of person lol)
    1. Those who look upon Christianity as an institution that uses all of its “rules and regulations” to control the masses. It is restricting and ruins the full breadth of the human experience.
    2. So called Christians who, whether they admit it directly or not, think in some way their obedience to the commands of scripture dictates their holiness and salvation.

  4. For me personally, the concept of freedom really sank in..
    1. Acts 24:16
    2. For the first time in my life, when I went to bed and rested my head on that pillow...I had a clear conscience before man, and now because of the work of Christ and this new relationship...God.
