A sermon outline based on John 8:36 & Lords Days 5-6

1. Jesus frees us from deception. (Acts 28:26-27, Luke 4:18)

 2. We all struggle with deception. (John 8:32,44, 16:33)

 3. There’s a 3-step process to deal with sin and deception.

•  Renounce it. 
•  Repent of it.
•  Ask God to forgive you and fill you with the opposite.

4. Jesus came to set us free from sin. (Romans 6:23, 8:1)

5. Jesus frees us from the power of sin. (Ephesians 6:10, 1 Corinthians 15:56-57, James 4:7) 

•  The sin of pride. (Philippians 2:3, Luke 22:42)
• The sin of unforgiveness. (2 Corinthians 2:10-11, Romans 12:18-19, Matthew 6:14)

Next steps...

• Read and reflect on Matthew 18:15-17.  Ask God to show you if there is anyone that you need to talk in order to seek forgiveness and reconciliation.
•  Think and pray about an area of your life where the devil may be deceiving you and  practice the 3-step process of renouncing, repenting, asking for forgiveness and for God to fill you with the opposite.
• Pray a prayer thanking God for the spiritual freedom that He’s given us in Christ!
